DR. LINDA SALVIN ON MERCURY IN RETROGRADE
- Written by Dr. Linda Salvin
As a metaphysician, I understand portions of Astrology but not all of it. I know compatibility and I have knowledge of various signs with their characteristics.
I know that each planet plays a part in our lives and personality due to it’s name and what it represents.. Mercury represents communication. Approximately every 90 days or so, the planet appears to rotate in a reverse orbit. We call it Mercury Retrograde. Just Google the term and pages of information, calendar dates, information on the shadow, direct, another shadow and potential warnings may appear.
Before I became psychic in 1981, and aware of the spiritual aspects of life, delved deeper into astrological effects or understood the catch phrase of Mercury Retrograde, I never really paid much attention to the ebbs and flows of life. Once I became aware of how Mercury Retrograde can affect lives, I could identify challenges in attitude, behavior, technical difficulties, delays, miscommunications and outages where usually things were relatively status quo.
As of this writing, we are 3 days into this new retrograde, starting February 17, 2020. Re words come to mind: renew, reinvent, retaliate, relinquish, reconnect, resolve, reason, resonate, recommit, etc. Relationships are often turbulent and attitudes more intense than usual. Words are not comprehended, people fly off the handle more; signing contracts or implementing a new project would probably be more successful if one were to wait until the planet goes direct in its orbit.
Whether your stove, refrigerator, automobile, construction, production or something as simple as scanning a piece of paper, if it is going to go wrong, it will.
Sometimes the overwhelming aspects of this quarterly phase leave us questioning our sanity. If you are travelling, check and recheck your schedule, departure times, confirm reservations at locations and your returns.
For example, I have called a national floral company three times to email me a receipt for my delivery. So far, no email, the delivery has failed twice in 10 days and my 1* on the Better Business Bureau website earned me a free plant. Great, but I have no proof, not record and still no delivery. Communication is not equal. Frustration is rampant and the special occasion 10 days ago warranting the floral delivery is now passé.
Many people live by the astrological aspects of every degree, position and sign. I do not. I believe in Sun signs and know the Moon, Venus (love), Mercury (communication) and Mars (sexuality and strength) all play an important aspect to our relationships with people. Our compatibility certainly can be linked to the aspects and conjuncts between us all.
Personally, I experience more stress, mishaps and communication flare-ups during a retrograde. Certain people I know are totally oblivious to the energy, live their lives calmly or with a terrific hold on reality, never questioning good and not so good days or weeks.
Whether you read the Farmer’s Almanac, astrology books, blogs, websites, seek an astrologer to map out your life or however you learn and experience Mercury Retrograde, if you are totally aware of the changes around you, you, too, may fall victim to blaming things that happen each quarter “it’s Mercury Retrograde”.
Contracts are broken, transportation stalls, electricity fails, computers crash, the cell phone has lousy service on one end, agitation is higher, emotional outbursts, break ups when it’s just a fight to work through and grow…the challenges of a Mercury Retrograde are endless, continuous and here from the beginning and to the end of time.
Again, I am not an astrologer. I do know that depending on our individual sun sign, we may be more affected than other people during a specific retrograde. There are 12 signs of the zodiac and eight planets in our galaxy. Each planet has a retrograde at some point however when it’s Mercury Retrograde the communication and upsets seem magnified and more unsettling.
Awareness, sensitivity, commitments and processes are challenged. Another example might be you are buying or leasing a car or you about to enter an escrow for property. The car may have unusual mechanical problems after you take possession. Or, the glitches in the contract are small but a continued nuisance. The property may suddenly have a broken pipe or a crack appears where there was none. Paperwork could be lost and typos are in the fields of information.
It is advised in most articles on the Mercury Retrograde to avoid entering into major contracts or decisions if you can help it. If a business or relationship existed prior and you need to move forward, do so. Life does not come to a halt during a Mercury Retrograde but more times than not, there will be conflicts. After we settle down from the upset, balance and harmony is restored, a deep breath is released and we continue onward until the next glitch.
As I mentioned above, this current Mercury Retrograde went into full force February 17, 2020. That happens to be the 39th anniversary of when I survived a commercial airline plane crash and turned toward the spiritual world over time.
The shadow began 7-10 days before, now we are in it and it officially ends on March 10. The energy and wild ride should start to calm down around March 3 or 4. There will then be smoother seas for awhile until we enter this Mercury Retrograde again on June 18. Then in October…check your local listing for dates, warnings, how to recline, review, reject, renew, reinvent, reminisce, rectify, recognize and feel relief about whatever the ole universe we live in decides to throw at you.
Relish the information and remember, you are not on this ride alone. Some feel it more than others. You may begin to recognize it and you may totally reject it. Even if you feel a slight awkward moment and the rug seems pulled from beneath you, perhaps, just perhaps, you will reflect upon this report and blame it on Mercury Retrograde.
