Rediscover what it’s like being together again!
While still riding a wave of global chart and YouTube success with his extremely romantic “A Wedding Song,” international pop/rock hit maker AV Super Sunshine is dropping the perfect anthem for this post-pandemic summer of reconnection. Though the playful, wildly infectious “Together” is at its heart a love song inspired, like the earlier track, by his relationship with his wife/partner in all creative things Philomena, its catchy, straightforward lyrics also speak to the joys and fun times we’re finally getting back to after more than a year of quarantine and social distancing.
Coinciding with the release of “Together,” AV Super Sunshine is set to share upcoming acoustic performances of “The Wedding Song” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the “Tamron Hall Show” and “CBS This Morning Saturday.” In addition to 31,000 views on YouTube for its video, “The Wedding Song” has been on the Global Top 50 Genre Airplay charts for 11 weeks, peaking at #4 on the Adult Contemporary chart (just behind Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd) and #16 on the Rock Airplay chart.
Both longtime AV fans and those new to his brand of quirky and lighthearted yet high impact songcraft will no doubt be singing along instantly to “Together” as they celebrate the rites of summer with family and friends: “Everywhere that you will go/I will go, we will go/Everywhere that you will go/We will go together…And everything that you will see/We will see, I will see/Everything that you will see/We will see together.”
This vibe of people enjoying life “Together” is reflected in the adorable and colorful, super-playful video for the track, which features Lego people enjoying their time at a fully functional Lego amusement park, complete with a spinning rocket ship carousel. He and Philomena created the setup last year originally to create a video for an older track AV had released called “Candyland,” but the pandemic and resulting lockdown led to a change of plans. When they realized that they had already gone the road trip route in the clip for “Wedding Song,” it was an easy decision to use and work with the elaborate display to reflect the spirit of “Together.”
It’s the next verse of “Together” that reminds us that AV wrote it for Philomena even before he penned “The Wedding Song.” He was thinking about their wondrous travels and inspired wanderings across the U.S. a few years – hitting everywhere from Bismarck and Sioux Falls in the Dakotas to Minnesota and Indiana – on a heavy-duty promotional tour that took him to 100 radio stations nationwide. He sings: “We’ll wake each day and face the world together/As we fall in love again/Together, forever, it’s true/No more heartache/I love the way we wake each day together. . .Rough and ready, tough and steady/Undercovers we are lovers…”
“The song, true to its title, is about two people being paired together in a committed relationship eager to face life as a team,” AV says. “Philomena and I do a lot of traveling together which gave me the idea. To begin the chorus, I sing “We’ll wake each day and face the world together".. To drive that point home, I end the chorus with the line “We fall in love again each day it’s true".
“I’ve certainly tackled a lot of unusual topics in the past,” he adds, “but the success of ‘A Wedding Song’ inspired me to release a follow-up in that same vein of expressing a positive relationship. We know a lot of successful couples and other folks who would like to have the kind of lasting relationship described in the song. My producer Michael Bradford came up with the song’s cool island feel, and I think it will come across well whether I perform it solo with an acoustic guitar or full band.”
“Together” is the third lead single from the veteran singer/songwriters in progress upcoming full-length album, "ARTROCK", a rock driven tribute to Lady Gaga’s classic EDM/synth-pop collection "ARTPOP". The collection is inspired by the fascinating friendship that AV Super Sunshine cultivated on social media with Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta) in the Summer of 2014 during her “ARTPOP” tour.
“I became friends with her on several of her pages,” he says. “There, we talked about the music industry and songwriting. Often, we would try to entertain each other with song lyrics. Having never met the artist, I studied both her musical accomplishments as well as the lessons she has shared, looking for similarities in my own life and experiences. In this way I was able to pen lines and songs that would be meaningful to her as well as myself. It was a lot of fun.”
“The Wedding Song” and “Together” follow on the heels of AV Super Sunshine’s global success with his previous hits “X-File: 8675309” – a (literally!) otherworldly song about an alien abduction – and “Super Cool,” a hypnotic, techno-inspired track that takes a compelling look back at AV’s high school days.
“X-File: 8675309,” which adapts the iconic hook of Tommy Tutone’s “867-5309/Jenny” as the springboard for an otherworldly musical narrative, spun on over 400 stations throughout the U.S. and Europe and hit the Top 40 on the DRT Global Rock Top 40 Airplay Chart – amid the latest tracks by Marilyn Manson, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, The 1975, Green Day and Blink-182.
In reaching #6 on the DRT Global Top 50 AC Airplay Chart, “Super Cool” shared the Top 10 with the likes of The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift. Testament to its cross-genre appeal, the song also hit the Top 25 on the DRT Global Top 50 Rock Airplay Chart, alongside hits by Daughtry, Papa Roach, The Black Keys and Green Day.
“Whether the theme and vibe of a song parallels the collective mood of our culture or reflects the complete opposite, timing plays a huge part in how well a song is received at any given moment,” AV says.
“Last year, during the height of the pandemic lockdown and the social justice marches after George Floyd’s murder, people appreciated my song ‘Crazy Love’ because it broke the heaviness and the tension.
Now with ‘Together,’ the uplifting feeling matches the mood of people in this country who are starting to venture out, resume normal life and travel more. It’s great to see them out having fun again – and ‘Together’ is hitting just as we’re starting to rediscover what it’s like being together again.”
