NEW YORK — “If you are tired of formulaic music like myself, this album by Patrick Leonard will make you sit up and take notice. Surprising melodies, incredible music played perfectly by all concerned. For me it is manna from heaven listening to the unexpected twists and turns. A brave album and one that is a complete triumph. Having had the pleasure of working with Pat this made me feel grateful and made me feel ALIVE.” - Elton John
“Patrick Leonard is such a magnificent composer. I don't think there is anybody working today with those kind of skills.” - Leonard Cohen
Patrick Leonard, the renowned producer & songwriter, is proud to announce the release of It All Comes Down to Mood, his double album of new songs reflective of where Patrick is after decades of producing and writing for legendary artists for many of their career-defining recordings. Iconic recordings from the likes of Madonna, Leonard Cohen, Elton John, Roger Waters, Pink Floyd, Jewel, Bryan Ferry, Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac to name a few, all bear the Patrick Leonard stamp.
It All Comes Down to Mood quickly defines, while listening, what Patrick contributed to his collaborative works, only now focused on work of his own.
The songs and creative process as described in Patrick’s words: “In most of my collaborative work the songs would start with me writing music in isolation. Then presenting said music to ‘the collaborator’. This is how it was pretty much 100% of the time. And then there was Leonard. Leonard would hand me a poem/lyric and I would write a tune to it usually right away. With most of the songs on this record I started with the lyric. I'd wake up at 1:30 -2 o'clock AM with a lyric idea. I’d get up, go to the media room, lay on the couch in the dark and dictate the lyrics into my phone. When they were done or at least done enough to start to make a song out of them (usually between 4 and 5AM) I go down to the studio and write chords and a melody to the lyric. Then I’d recorded a demo. Not all the songs went this way but I’d say more than half did. Stylistically, I just stayed true to my roots and made the record I wanted to make”.
Long in the works, with the cover designed by the legendary StormStudios, It All Comes Down to Mood is a masterful collection of 16 songs, written and performed by a music industry legend.
