AMERICAN GREED CREATES A SPANISH LANGUAGE VERSION OF ITS HIT ANTHEM “TOGETHER” TO SHARE  ITS EMPOWERING, UPLIFTING MESSAGE WITH A LARGER GLOBAL AUDIENCE

Ready to Rock the World, This St. Louis based hard rockin' Band of songwriters Michael Mesey, Matt Arana and Dave Farver penned and recorded “Together”.  They never dreamed that the poignant powerhouse of a song – reflecting the personal heartache of a musician away from loved ones and family – would become a universal anthem capturing our collective anxieties and hopes of the pandemic era.

Since hitting the charts last fall, “Together” has been an enduring, impactful international phenomenon, reaching #1 on both the World Indie Music Chart, Euro Indie Music Chart and #12 on the DRT Global Top 50 Rock Airplay Chart, sharing space with the likes of Foo Fighters and AC/DC, whose “Shot in the Dark” was #1 that week. The track has also amassed over 351,000 Spotify streams and its video – which intercuts live performance clips with poignant portraits of life since COVID-19 – has over 456,000 views on YouTube and continues to rise.

American Greed is now gearing up to take the song to a whole new level of global influence with the impending release of a Spanish language version of “Together,” to be sung by the group’s frontman Dave Farver and Mexico-based singer Nancy J. Ramirez. The newly recorded version, tracked and compiled remotely with protocols in place, will also feature American Greed guitarist Matt Arana adding a distinctive and exotic Spanish flair with acoustic guitar.  The original version, as on many of the tracks on the band’s self-titled 2020 debut, is driven by Arana’s blistering, hard driving electric guitar energy.

American Greed’s worldwide radio promotion company Musik and Film LLC will be sending it to 50,000 Spanish language stations throughout the world, allowing native Spanish speakers in Spain and throughout Latin America to share in the song’s magic and message for the first time.

Whatever language they are translated into, Mesey’s lyrics hit home and are especially relevant in light of the sense of a lost year where so many people were apart from loved ones – and the hope that more opportunities to connect and reunite are now possible. The drummer wrote: “Sorry for the tears you cried/I wasn’t by your side when you needed me. . .How can I find a way/To heal our soul of sorrows for the time I was away…I just wanna hear you say, we’ll be together, We will be together.”

“It is my belief, as an artist and songwriter, but more importantly as a concerned human being, that change for the good is always possible if, to appropriate the title of the song, we commit ourselves to caring and working ‘Together for the greater good,” says Mesey, a veteran musician whose extensive credits include years of playing with rock icon Chuck Berry and St. Louis based classic rockers Head East.

"In sharing our power ballad with the world, he adds, “I have been using this quote to reflect my feelings expressed in the lyrics: ‘In this moment we are sharing together with the world. In my heart, this is the song for the moment we are living in.’ Everything in the world today is about "Together" what stared out as a song for those that were away from loved ones, now includes all Americans and everyone in the world. Now more than ever we need to Come Together, Heal Together so 'We Will be Together'. We are so excited to introduce "Together" to many other countries and cultures with this new Spanish version.”

The idea for a Spanish language version of “Together” came from two sources. Farver saw a comment under the video on YouTube asking American Greed to record it in Spanish so their message could reach new audiences. Dave has also been visiting Mexico for 20 years and is very excited to be working with Nancy from Mexico and introducing our song to the Spanish speaking world. Another was a mention of American Greed and “Together” on a Spanish language podcast that ran on the platform Lacomarca.net. In a flash of “meant to be” synchronicity, the name of the station it aired on was Matarraña Radio in the Aragon community of Spain – named for a comarca that has the same essential sound as American Greed member Matt Arana. Also Matt's great grandparents were mexican immigrants and he explains that he has always felt a connection to tradittional Spanish and mexican music and studied classical guitar since the age of 11, it is deeply imbedded in his rock and electric playing. The hosts talk about the song for five minutes before closing the segment with the song.

“Considering all of that great encouragement,” Mesey says, the band agreed this was the perfect time to record a Spanish version of the song. I had played some gigs in the States, in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, with Nancy and did some recording with her – and we kept in touch via social media over the years. I knew immediately she would be the perfect vocalist to sing this with Dave. It’s really about the whole world, and we’re excited about the opportunity to share our music with Spanish speaking communities everywhere. Music is the one thing with the power to heal the world, and we believe the only way we’re going to solve anything and overcome all this division and hatred is by coming together with common cause and purpose.”
